noises when cold
« on: 18 September 2010, 20:58:45 »

I have a 2001 2.6 mv6. When started from cold it sounds like a pulley is making a grinding noise or like a belt is rubbing. When it gets to tempeture the noise disappears. It does sound like its coming from the top front of the engine. It has been like this for about 2000 miles so if something was going to go seriously wrong i thought it would of done by now.

Slip the aux belt off and run for about 30 secs, if noise disappears it`s the belt tensioner failing. If noise still there could well be cambelt tensioner
