Hi everybody

As the problems with my car were daily increasing, I finally decided to bring it to the official Opel service.

We had 3 main problems

No starting when the car was hot
Hot motor temperature
The car used to turn of after I use the clutch before changing the gear

The first problem has been solved, it was obvious,  and it was the tank filter and its pump, I saw it on this forum but I decided to repair it at the official service.

But now we are with the second problem, 3 years ago I changed the whole water circuit, radiator, pump, tubes etc  and cleaned it, but still the car during summer got high temperatures sometimes over 100ºC

The other day,I got a phone call from the mechanical they do not know what is happening, the car suddenly starts all the ventilators and the temperature goes over 100, but, they have tried with an infra red thermometer and the temperature is ok, so there is some electrical problem somewhere in the car.

Something is giving wrong information about the temperature, the car starts all the ventilators and the temp indicator goes up.

In Opel they do not know what is happening, any idea from somebody here??  :-/

When the cooling system was overhauled (new radiator, tubes and pump) did they change the thermostat?  Maybe that could be the problem.

Also do you still have the third problem? Paraphrasing. "The engine stalls when you depress the clutch to change gear"

I dont think that the thermostat is fully open untill after 100c. I have seen my temp gauge over 100 when in the heat of Spain. Make sure you have the coolant/ antifreeze in. Gauges can also be inaccurate.

Couldn't this be a faulty temperature sender on the block? :-/

first thing i wold change is the cts(coolant temp sender) and the temp gauge sensor, they are relatively cheap  and easy to  change, hot start problem is bound to be the fuel temp sensor which is in the top part of the pump, easy test is to pour a bottle of water over the pump before trying to start when hot, if it starts then you know where the problem lies,
even in the horrendous heat here(over 40) mine still gets nowhere near the hundred even belting it at full boost up steep hills

Omegas do run very hot.
I guess when you have the A/C off the temp never reaches 100 degrees on the scale.
The problem probably isn't a problem at all. The gauge can vary to a few degrees and isn't accurate. Maybe do a coolant flush once more to clean the system.
Don't know on the mig but on my old Audi 2.5tdi hot start always took longer than the cold one cause the  diesel engine heaters never turned on if the engine was hot and cranking took significantly longer.

Hi:

After 40 days at the Opel Service, I got the car back, they have done the following repairs

-Replacing two temperatures meters, It seemed the car had good temperature if it was measures with infra red meter but on the cockpit it showed over 100. There were some problems here

-Cleaning tank filter

-Replacing gearbox oil and the oil that is in the transmission (Not changed both since
car was bought..)

-Distribution chain adjusted, it was not “tight”

Now the car starts perfectly even if it is hot and also It does not stops when I reduce speed.

I do not know if heating problems are solved out, as the weather is not so hot now and I cannot test it like in July/August.

Next thing will be cleaning the admission valves, as they have some carbon stuck on them.
