Irmscher Pedals
« on: 25 September 2010, 23:31:46 »

Ive just brought some irmscher pedals from ebay. They are just the pdeals and no fitting instructions.
Do i need to drill holes into my existing car pedals? Do i need to remove the existing rubbers from my cars pedals first?
Also do they need some sort of 'backing' first? or are the size of the screws just the right size?

Any advice would be a huge help.

I don't know much about this but if I saw Irmscher pedals one ebay, and if i wanted to buy them, I'd have to make myself absolutely certain they're genuine!

If you are going to fit them I would have thought the old rubbers will need to come off, then a good clean of the pedal itself. Why don't you offer the Irmscher part upto the pedal to see of the screw holes are ok? If it is genuine there should be no problem.

I'd be very careful in fitting as you wouldn't want to compromise the level of control you have over the car by reducing operability of the pedals, by adding a cosmetic part. Also if you get half way through and change your mind, you could end up with drilled pedals with no rubbers on them, which it'd probably be best to fit new rubbers, instead of old ones (is it a legal/MOT requirement for pedal rubbers? Could lack of rubbers/modification to pedals affect insurance as it is safety critical? I don't know but they are points to bear in mind)

A friend of mine once had aftermarket metal pedals screwed to his pedals, they were terrible, loose, and you couldn't get proper control of the car. I refused to drive it!

Can you confirm if they are the full pedals, or just the plate that goes on the end where the foot makes contact?

Hi, they seem genuine - they are just the plate that makes contact onto the pedal.
I have the rubber off the brake pedal and put the irmscher pedal up to it.
There is one 1 vertical rectangle hole on the actual cars pedal but no holes that match up to the screws on the irmscher pedal.
So it looks as though i need to drill holes to screw them on.

However when I first got the pedals (they are second hand) one of the screws had a piece of broken plastic 'baking' attached to it. - That's why im thinking i need to have a plastic baking before i put them onto the car.

Looking on irmscher website the brake and clutch pedal screws are in a different place (they are diagonal to each other - not at the top and bottom), also the accl. pedal is larger.
But when I asked the seller if they would fit an Omega he said they definitely would.

Could someone take a picture of their irmscher pedals for me?

I have put some pedals from a Mustang on mine...kinda "make it up as I went along" method. Been on for over 10 months now...

Not being funny but why do you think they're genuine? Sellers will tell you any old claptrap just to get a sale. They sound fake to me if they look different to the ones on irmscher website.
