slb 2.2 16v question

hi all my new to me 2.2 16v is fantastic but have a couple of isuees till i get my hands on a haynes book for it.
1)temp guage not working this i presume will be the sender unit to which i could do with pointing in the right direction ::)
i used to have the 2.0 16v which this engine is drived from if im not mistaken but its got more elecs on it now so not as easy to me just yet.

2) want to change the head unit for a single din jvc but is there a blanking platr or a cubby hole to go in the gap left?? also what leads cables will i need to keep display and steering wheel controls???

thanks all in advance i will no doubt have some more questions at some point but this is gona be one hell of a ride with such a fantastic car  :) :) :) :) :y

Yes, but obviously being a DBW yours won`t have the Dispack

as rob says the little stat has maybe falled off the brass connector at the back, may have to remove the scuttle for better access.

For the headunit, you will have to get one that is steering wheel control & display compatible. Most are ok with steering wheel controls, but not many will support the display, i never bothered to get it working and i don't miss it.

I've got a Alpine 9854R in mine, with working steering wheel controls:
