I think something has given up on the MV6.  On a bumpy road, the car seems to have no stability, and just seems to make its own mind up about where it wants to go.

I would say it felt like chrisgixer's problem.


I can't find any play in wishbone bushes or steering components, though does appear to be a little too much 9/3 oclock movement to me.

All trackrod ends seem to show no real play, nor does steering idler seem to have any movement.

Tyre pressures all within a couple of PSI of what they should be, no strange wear.

Rear bushes changed a couple of months back.

There is a little bit of play in both front wheel bearings, which is an ongoing issue.

This issue seems to have appear a couple of days ago.

How old are the wishbones? Any splits in the rubber bush?....hard to see I know. Might be Polly time.

random guess, power steering? Goes weak in certain conditions allowing car to wonder?

Hmm have you checked the strut top bearings?
when the rubber is worn it allows the top of the strut to move around, could give your symptoms? as it would affect the camber a little?
just a thought as you seem to have checked most things

when the rubber is worn it allows the top of the strut to move around, could give your symptoms? as it would affect the camber a little?

The ones I had that where bushed at newent failed a couple of months ago. They where almost exactly two years old.

Yes, not much play in mine either, but lever it out and shine a torch in and mine had split where the  vertical rubber web bit meets the outer edge....actually they are the ones in the guide, but the outer most split was visible when levered and a torch shone in.

Don't think so, mine were 150k old.... and very noisey. On bumpy roads it was fine... ish.

Mine would seem to leap around all over the place on certain very pot holed stretches of road. and if rear nearside wheel went over deep rut or pothole would make rear end seem to jump to left.

It was the rear shock absorbers, particularly nearside completely shot, no damping at all
.
They were self leveling type and my theory is that on that side, it was operating like a bouncy castle on the pumped up shock absorber, making the rear whels go all over the place.

New units on, and now it would go as straight as a die over a corrugated iron road.
