crank sensor?
« on: 21 October 2010, 08:49:11 »

Hi all, i carried out the paper clip test and came up with code 19 which i believe to be rpm signal or similar. someone said change crank sensor however the car runs fine, no cutting out or dropping of revs etc. should i change it anyway before it does go wrong and if so will the error code 19 go away or does something need resetting??? many thanks.

they normally self delete.

Many 19's present on cars running fine....then one day, you'll be stranded.

if it was me, I'd delete the code with a reader, and if it came back, id change it.

without deleting ability, i'd be buying the sensor ready, even if not fitting till the 1st sign of a hiccup.
Depends on your schedule if a breakdown is an issue..if it is, then change it.

thanks jimbob, got the sensor from vx £55 just need to fit it. i noticed the sensor next to oil filter when doing an oil change the other day but couldnt see where the cable dissapeared too for the connection. have you done one yourself? is the connector end easily accessible? dont have a reader so prob just best to change it over to save being stranded, got a 1 year old daughter travelling with me sometimes so cant breakdown then so thankyou for the tip buddy  :y :y :y

it is under the scuttle passenger side, sort of at the side of the engine, can take a little finding.  be easier next time (should it be needed) if you route the new cable behind the abs pipes, away from the heat of the engine

Look at the Maintenance guides as there is a good picture of location of both ends for Crank Sensor.
Hope this helps.
