Sourcing genuine VX parts
« on: 20 October 2010, 13:45:17 »

Please forgive the daft question but I want to get hold of some genuine VX rocker cover gaskets. Are VX garages the only places that stock them or is there somewhere I can buy them online?

Thanks,

From VX you know they`re genuine, online, could be anything. Stick with dealer

There are places that claim to offer OEM gaskets but in our experience they are stretching the truth. Safer to buy froma  main dealer.

If you specifically want to mail order them, give AndyC a call. :y

purchase from a dealer using a trade club card......    if you don;t have one i'm sure one of the members who do can help you out.

Thanks for the quick replies chaps!

I don't have a trade club card, I see you can get one by joining Bhanstormers. What % do you tend to save on parts?

I was hoping to do the job this weekend and no doubt it will take longer than that to get a trade card through. It's a kind offer but I don't expect anyone to put themselves out for me so I can save a few pounds.

The nearest VX garage from me (I'm in Epsom) is Crawley! That surprises me! I thought there would be loads around!

Just been quoted £148 for all the parts/seals/gaskets etc to do the cam cover gaskets. Does that sound reasonable?

Sounds like retail price to me! As already said contact andyc, he will provide them by post for a lot less than that!

What Welung said ^^

Andy's price for both sides is £74.00 including VAT and courier to your door.  See his post a few weeks ago here

I've just ordered a set but I beleive he mentioned he had more in stock.   :y

Thanks for that guys!

Just been on the phone to Andy and ordered all the parts to do it plus the seals for the throttle body. I also got some plugs. About £100 all in and will be delivered to me on Saturday! Dead chuffed! About half the price of the VX garage!

Once again thanks for telling me about him!
