Spanner light
« on: 25 October 2010, 10:43:56 »

Hi all,

Im new to this site, it seems fantastic, I would really appreciate some feed back from likewise Omega owners about my problem. I fitted a new exhaust after a million problems with limp mode and emission lights. Ive had no problems for 3 months andthe other day Bingo...I got the dredded spanner on my dash. So I let the engine warm up restarted,it came out of limp mode and the spanner changed to engine managment light, after a few miles it went out. Got in the car early this morning, spanner light came on, but didnt have enough time to let it warm up...I know I need the codes read but I thought someone out their may have an idea.....had to use the wifes car.. I look like the honey monster in her 206!!!!

The car and spanner light is not for emmissions ... the car and spanner light is Engine electronics or Immobiliser problem , get the codes read to see whats going on .
If you tell us where you are there may be a local friendly member who can read the codes for you  :y

Sounds like the cam sensor, quite common symptoms on a 2.2.

You need to get the codes read to make sure.

If it is the cam sensor, only buy one from a genuine Vx dealer, DO NOT buy one from a motor factors, even if they tell you it's a genuine one, you'll be wasting your money.

There's a 'How to' in the Maintenance Guides.
