No facelift Haynes, but for most engine work the prefacelift manual is good enough, and for everything else ....... ask here, someone will know.

thanks for the info andy,i drive a 2000 mv6,i had all of 3 weeks,used only at week ends and already shes a head ache..

A bit of a bugger. Foe what it's worth, water pumps aren't known for failing, you've been unlucky. can you see water leaking from the pump? If you're losing a relatively small amount of water the heater by pass valve(back of driver's side cylinder head) is more likely.

Believe me Andy thats only a minor problem.main concern is constant vapour from exhaust, i fear the worst and if it is I WILL NOT BE REPAIRING HER :-/ to teach myself a £1200 Lesson for leaping b4 looking.

Don't forget that there's a lot of exhaust to hold water. Have you had the car properly warm, not just knocking about town?  :-/

Ive had her on M1 Mate watford to London and she still produces vapour,last owner lopped off back box and put on noisy sport pipe instead,it does have a sharp drop back to the 2 exhaust silencers,so unless the hot gases are condesing in the sport pipe,i really cant see it being any thing but the dreaded HEAD

John, give us a rundown of the symptoms you're having. If you're losing coolant water, how much? is the leak visible? Is the coolant bottle contaminated with oil, any sign of water in the oil? etc etc. The more you tell us the better the help

water pump gone need this sorting first, bought with a water leak,no mayo on dip stick or cap, was running a bit hot,but kept in constant check using climate not over 80 degrees.
got to sign off now guys really appreciate reasurance and info,catch up tommorrow.

Call me naive, but my 3.0 v6 runs at more than 80degrees when warm. In fact it fluctuates over and under the halfway mark dependant on whether the cooling fans actuate. I’m therefore not sure I would say yours is running hot.

John, as said^^^ the V6 runs a little hot as normal, around 90deg iirc? Unless you can see water leaking from the waterpump housing then I would suggest that it may be ok & not the source of your water loss, as if it was fubarred the temperatue would go into the red whether the A/C was running or not imo :-/

Unless you simply don't have the time or inclination, use the unsurpassed knowledge on here to sort it yourself, or talk to one of our resident fixers, whom you'll soon hear from, I'm sure.
