Hy i have a 2003 omega 2.2 dti,and i have a problem starting the engine:at the first start of the day(morning)sometimes after it fires it will not accelerate and die.After this i have to crank the engine for about 10-20 seconds,after it will start and black smoke comes out the exhaust,and it will not stay at idle without me pressing a little on the accelerator.I found that if i park the car with it's front down(rear up on a hill) it will start with no problems.I forgot to say that i went to a dealer where they checked the car on a TESTER and no codes appeared.Please help.

Bad starting on a deisel usually points to Glow plugs, but once started should run. I would be checking fuel pump, has car been serviced recently, dirty oil can cause black smoke, fuel cleaner sometimes helps, keep us posted and someone will help you more than I can.

Sounds like you have a leak in one of the fuel pipes, fuel bleed off pipes or fuel filter which is allowing the diesel to run back to the tank which is a common problem on the desmond diesel due to it only having an injector pump. Have a look at the injectors there will be pipes linking each one, if the pipe is covered in like a cloth its probably original and I would start by replacing that

i agree with elite pete,
i have a 2.2dti saloon elite and suffer from the same problem,
check leak off pipes and injector seals as they wear, air is definately entering the system some where, i have pondered on how to remedy the problem myself and after changing the above am considering putting a non return valve in the fuel line  next to injector pump to STOP the fuel from returning to the tank, i thought to myself and tried parking on a hill nose down and the fuel still drained to the tank and could only start it with easy start, the 2.2dti engine can be a complete bar steward belive me! get codes read by a tech 2 and see if there are any problems with the pump , a   word of warning the pump can be VERY expensive to replace or even fix.

ps, dont wory about the glow plugs as the car dont use them untill it gers to minus 2 or 3
