HID level sensor - Clip keeps coming off
« on: 06 November 2010, 00:21:33 »

RIghto. I've established that the headlamp range message is down to the front level sensor. It appears that the bit that clips on the sensor keeps coming off. Which bit do I need to replace to stop it coming off? The sensor, or the clip?

Put a cable tie on it.   :y

Mine did the same, as Kneepad has stated - fix it with a cable tie. Has been fine now for at least 4 years. :y

Better yet, use two cable ties criss-crossing the sensor cap :y :y

Depends what's meant by "clip"? 2ball joints on a connecting Rod to a lever that attaches to a larger ball joint the plugs into the back of the sensor on the chassis. On mine the large ball joint had worn and popped out. Re greased and pushed back in, popped put again over the first bump. Cable ties don't seem to allow the range of movement and still hold it in successfully ime.

Needs a working unit, try a wanted add on here or a breakers. New are steep at £50 last time I bought one.

My temporary fix has now successfully lasted over 12 months Chris, & Malcolm_D's is still going strong after 4+?  :y
