Ok so picked the Miggy up from the autospark today, she runs which is more than she did when she was towed in! bit dissapointed that she is still misfiring both on petrol and gas and the guy was quite honest in that he didn't know what the misfire was , Snap on diagnostic showed no faults.Crank sensor is new VX.

I have an oil leak from the rocker cover and have checked out most of the plug wells apart from the back two on the passenger side, are these the usual suspects and if so how do you get the cable tray sufficiently out the way?

The ICV pipework has a small leak, would this cause a misfire when under load?

after the electrical mess up I had a code for the cam sensor but read these are reliable and think this was a result of the electrical short/blow.

Could the dis pack and leads be a suspect along with the oil leak I am thinking down this way personally.

I know I am kind of grasping at straws but one of these issues must be the problem and will be resolved in time but I need to try and get her going well in the short term and would welcome an order of attack as my time and funds are limited at the moment but I will raid the scrappy tomorrow and swap what I can to aid the diagnosis.

So if it were yours what would you swap/check first?

Also check if a code 19 comes back.

Passenger bank can be accessed by removing the cable tray completely and moving the wiring aside.

I am guessing the usual approach re misfire will work, ie cheapest and easiest first, change the plugs for genuine vx, Any oil will be apparent and cam seals then fitted, cable tray can held aside with a bungee cord to the bonnet stay. If it persists change the leads don't use genuine, too expensive. and if that's no good change the dis Pac, most expensive part and a fiddle to change.

But frankly, I'm surprised your auto electrician has not looked into the the HT system....but then on the other hand maybe I'm not surprised at all.  :-/

His take was that it came in as a non runner and was running and it is only noticeable when under load so he thought it was licked, tbh he had been on it for 3 days fixed the elec probs ( wiring fooked, new relays) and charged £90 including an extra scan today when sadly most garages will charge £40 quid for just to turn the scanner on.

Well another day of fiddling, changed all the plugs how much of a bast*rd is number 6!!!! no oil in the wells which is good. Put a spark tester on all the plugs and they are lighting up nicely so I am thinking DIS and leads are ruled out.

Its still misfiring although the plugs have helped a little, code 59, ICV voltge low but thats probably from my fiddling about and I will check the connections tomorrow.

I am thinking of 3 possible causes after todays graft:

I have 3 dodgy crank sensors, the original,the pattern one and the latest brand new VX one.

The fuel filter is blocked, because I had been running it dry without realising ( bit of confusion of how the gas stystem works )

A fault at the loom side of the crank sensor plug as the wire looks a bit worse for wear.

Filter will be changed tomorow and swappie roundie of the crank sensors. The wiring I have no idea how to check though
