Although I did just spot you can get A048-Rs in the Elite sizes.. but that would just be silly ;D

One for the "fun while it lasted" category, I think. ;D

:D If it was an Mv6 saloon, I'd consider it.. but since the Elite is meant to be my 'winter' car .. it would be a tad foolish ;)

Sadly the wheels on the MR2 aren't big enough to get A048's, so the Neovas are the next best thing available.

I had a full set of 225/55/16 Firestone Firehawk TZ 200 Fuel Savers fitted 2 months ago, Great all round grip, wet, dry, hot or cold  no tendancy to tramline at all, no vibration, I bought them because they were fuel saver tyres and they have done just that.

in 75,000 miles i've only had 2 sets of tyres. It had Goodyear Eagle Ventures on it when i bought it, they were super hard, did 48k in them  :o

Lacked grip though at times  ::)

Now on Falkins, 912's on rear 917's on the front, there is less road noise with them, grip better too. Wear rate is slightly worse, done just 30k on the fronts, and i'd say they have about 5-8k left.

No tramlining issues, but then again i don't have a lot of power, and its been WIM'd!

What IS the matter with you T? 35k from 912s?  And btw, they are appalling tyres on the omega.

Anyone else noticed, as soon as tyre is mentioned in the subject line of a post, it turns into a marathon thread.
Must be one of the most boring  topics on the forum (as far as I'm concerned), but then I did spend several miserable years bulding tyres for Vredestein.  :'(

How do you find them?(he asked, planning the next Westfield tyre purchase) ::)

What size are you running?

Yoko site shows both down to 205/50/15 (which is still a seriously pimpy size if you're claiming it's a tyre for "sports cars" IMHO.)  ::)

Kevin

The Neovas I run are the Lotus fitment tyres - so they're only available in one size as they were specifically designed for the S1 Elise, oh and only available from Lotus dealers or specialists.

Their full name is Yokohama Advan Neova LTS ;)

http://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/78/481/yokohama-advan-neova/

They come in 195/50R15 (fronts) and 225/45R16 (rears) but they really are a stunning tyre - next best grip to something like an R888/A048, superbly communicative, stiff sidewalls..

They even worked in winter when they were basically slicks (er.. whoops!) ;D

You can almost still see the tread pattern ;D

Oh - I am pondering trying out the AD08's ('new' Neova) next time however, as I was let down by the last people I bought a set of LTS from :( still trying to get a refund for that.. :-/

They're about the same price and if they're as grippy & communicative they'd be great.

<rubs chin>

Yes, I've wondered about them. Then again, the Toyo Proxes / Parada Spec 2 option is a good bit cheaper, and probably just as good for a road car. :-/

.. If I can find someone with anything in stock under about 17", that is.  ;D

I might change to 195/50/15s. Seems a more popular (and cheaper) choice than the 205/50/15s I've currently got.

I ran Proxes for a long time, too - and I really like them (especially on larger diameter wheels to shorten the sidewall), but the Neovas were really on a different level.

Although given the price differential and the fact that T1-Rs would last ~12k and the Neovas about 6k ..

Life not really an issue, TBH. I reckon I might get better wear given the lighter car and the fact that it does get a reasonable amount of commuting and motorway transit to and from the places where the roads are good. It only does 5 or 6k a year anyway (a bit less this year <cough!>).

Hmm.

90% motorway miles + WIM Setup = Hardly any wear!

Once I get a set of something on the MR2 you're more than welcome to come over and have a play - unless it's snowing of course  :-X ;D
