Engine trouble above 3thous revs

Hi all,I've been looking for a water leak today at the rear of the plenum with no look but have got in the car to drive this evenin and car won't rev above 3000 revs it's like car hits the limiter eml light then comes on then take my foot off throttle and all is well again.any ideas what the hells goin on?have knocked something?

You are hitting the rev limiter.

When the EML light is showing the ECU applies a much lower rev limit.

Do the paper clip test and see what code is stored :y

No,eml light is not on.it flashes on and goes off,car is not in limp mode.

As predicted no codes stored just 19 and I've replaced the sensor with genuine part so don't think it's that.

had a good look today and all connections are good.it sound like a missfire.all dispack leads are plugged in.it revs to 4thou and then bounce back to 3500 as if its hitting 6500.i am very confused and gettin sick of it.

remember, just cos you have replaced a part, there is no guarantee that part is not faulty.

got my trusty "My Naff Code Reader" working and have cleared codes,started engine and code 19 again!so must be crank sensor again?what a pain!do vx do warrenty as its not even 6 months old!
