Anything i should be carefull of with this?

Presume leave the ignition off for a while to be safe, then 4 bolts each side and some plugs undernieth somewhere? :-/

Raise the seats to the highest setting, then move them one way, remove exposed bolts, move seat other way and remove other two exposed bolts. Remove electrical connectors paying careful attention if the seats have airbags. I believe the idea is ign on, ign off, disconnect battery within 30 seconds. go for cup of tea/coffee/beer/spirits. then disconnect air bag wiring.

for the purposes of airbags and srs, they are never totally safe, static, bangs and knocks can set them off, i've seen it.

Agreed. Airbag is only powered with ignition on, I believe.

My rule of thumb for anything Airbag related is:

Undo any securing bolts as required.

Disconnect battery for at least 30 minutes.

Then work. I have seem an Airbag go off and it's not pleasant!

Ok chaps thanks. As the seats are fully electric, make sure I can access the bolts before un hooking the battery..... And keep ones back straight and head well clear of the air bag area 


Is it easier to take the seat out of the back door btw...?  :-/. Might ask my neighbour to help lift them out if they are heavy.

Yes, as said, move the seat one way or the other to remove the bolts then move back/forward to get to the other bolts. Seats come out of the car via the front door.  I'm not sure two people will be able to get in to lift the seat while it's in the car.  :-/
You'll be OK on your own, just be careful as  you can't get in to keep your back straight. Elf 'n' safety is all very well in a perfect world.

1. Seat all way back and remove front bolts, then all way forward, then disconnect battery, have supper, then remove rear bolts.

2. You'll also need to remove the trim from between the sill and the seat. Most of this just pulls forward, and if you need to,the rear part is held on by 1 screw, Phillips iirc.

3. Wiring is underneath it. Main plug (black) has 1 lock bar on it, Airbag and pretensioner plugs (yellow and orange/yellow and pink) have their own safety tabs.

4. Out the front door is easiest, 1 hand round top of seat, 1 under front, just watch the seat rails on the door trim. And it is b'stard heavy.

5. Refit as reverse, using plenty of threadlock on bolts. Renewing bolts is best option as you'll probably end up fubaring at least one of them.

I had to do this very task not so long ago with my Elite saloon.
The biggest problem is the fact the seats are fully electric. Ideally you'd want to disconnect the battery before removing bolts etc.
However;
There are 4 bolts in each corner, sometimes they can be very tight. Move the seat back and undo the front bolts, then move the seat forwards to remove the rear bolts. You may need to tap the seat runners with a hammer to help get the bolts out. Get Helen to hold the seat, if someone doesn't hold it, it has a tendancy to fall backwards off where it's bolted to the rear seats and this won't do any good to the electrical connectors.
Now disconnect the battery and wedge the seat so it can't move. Come back 20 minutes later. Undo the electrical connectors and then remove the seat. It is very heavy...or it is for me anyway 
I replaced the velour for leather in mine so put a new seat back in straight away so I could reconnect the battery and not get the airbag light on, so I could then move the passenger seat.
If I can do it...anyone can

....so be careful if you are intending to walk backwards while carrying them. I say this because I was walking backwards with one about 8 months ago. I fell over and the seat landed on top of me - base downwards - result was one cracked rib, and I dont quite know what I did to my left arm, but it hasnt been anywhere near right since. Having said all that, it could probably only happen to me.
