Air disribution uint - removal (HOW???)
« on: 25 November 2010, 09:47:46 »

Please, my friends, someone tell me :

HOW can I remove the air distribution system ????

Can I do it WITHOUT discharging the aircon system ?

I removed 2 screws in the engine compartment, and 1 inside the car, but its legs seem to be stuck because of the wiring below. What else am I to do in order to free this thing ?
Please helpppppppppppppppp (with pictures)....
It's an MV6.

Bit more detail. What are you actually trying to remove from the car, is it the complete aircon system or just one of the component parts :-?

It's the Big Black Complicated Plastic Thing behind the radio, including those little motors and metal rods etc....

So I'd like to remove the air distribution unit only , WITHOUT discharging and dismantling the aircon system.
I don't want to touch the aircon vaporizer inside the car,etc...
Is it possible ?
HOW ?
After removing the 2 retaing screws in the engine compartment and the nut inside the car this thing is still not willing to get out.

Dear Friends, the car is waiting for a motor renewal, and won't be ready till springtime, that's why I decided to explore all parts and possible troubles inside.
Seats, dashboard, carpets ....everything is removed now...and it seems the air distribution unit lost some of its parts(actuator rods, etc.)
I'd like to remove it folks, so let's forget WHY's and start to deal with HOW's :)

According to Haynes , I am to remove the 2 screws and the nut inside, ....and...discharge aircon....that's what I do NOT want to do.
Do I really have to ?

All right, let's suppose aircon is already discharged.

What next ?

I appreciate YOU have never accomplished such a task, but I hope this forum is not only for the two of us :)

Can anyone else give me an answer ?

I don't believe I'm the first person who ever removed that thing on his own.

No answer ?????

If I can get my Tech2 lappy charged today, I'll try to print off how to do it.

What year is your car...
