Tailgate lock barrel

How does the tailgate lock barrel come out ? do you have to remove the complete number plate light and the whole lock assembly or is it a bit easier than that ?

Remove trim panel, disconnect central locking linkage, undo nuts then unhook the cylinder assembly.   :y

Can the barrel be stripped down and reconfigured to suit a different key or do you need to get another barrel to suit the key ?

The levers will be different, ie fitted by lever number and sequence to each key, so no, best to source an auto locksmith place if you want to retain the same key.
