Standard shocks are fine ,but you will need to disable the air pump as the pipes will be redundant now..either pull the fuse for it or the relay.

Remember the ride will probably be firmer as air shocks give  softer ride with the elite rear springs.

Standard shocks will be a fair bit cheaper as well.

On topic, I would love to hear the definitive list of Omega dampers. As far as Im aware the list is something like this - (oofers feel free to modify/add to the list)

-Standard '94-'00
-Elite adjustables - all years the same
-MV6 '00-'03
-Standard '00-'03

Have read on here that dampers on pre-farcelift MV6 are the same as standard, it's only the springs that differ (though always assumed MV6 dampers'd be irmscher, or 'uprated' in some way, myself.)

Also the facelift models had totally re-jigged, uprated suspension. Which, presumably, meant new springs and dampers.

Have also been told that ALL Omega dampers are the same (obviously saloon/estate rears are different) so, frankly, I dont know what to believe! I can easily see the point of Liamg's original post

Answers on a postcard, please  :)

Ooh, now then.
Face lifts...                                                                                                       Pre face lift

Standard.    Gls, cd cdx.                                                                           Afaik same as face lift
Elite. Softer with self levelling rear shocks and springs                                                        Same

Mv6 and sport. lowered sports chassis,                                          Standard springs firmer shocks
15mill lower, firmer but still supple.

Further complications, rear depends if estate or saloon for style of shock and spring,

fronts depend on engine, 4 pot, td, v6 for springs?Shocks are same according to trim level.

Is that right? Discuss....

As above, plus:

F/l V6 Special saloon: Lowered Sport Chassis.
F/l V6 Special estate: Lowered Sport Chassis, with self levelling rear. (which is nice) ::)

Thats how I understand it, but thought front shocks/springs where the same 4pot/V6/TD (except for Mv6/Elite)

Ok. That all sounds clear enough.

But how, then, do we explain the uprated handling of the facelift? I was of the impression all facelifts had uprated suspension? Certainly in my experience 00-on models seem to just 'feel' nicer than pre.

Not disagreeing, just seeing if anyone has an answer...
