Hi guys well i have had the car just over a week now and just yesterday when i came home from work and locked car as usual with remote i whent in doors and approx 30 mins later alarm was going off, i used remote to open and lock car again to silence alarm and then again in 30 mins it was goin again obviously i checked the obvious windows shut etc so i had to leave it unlocked for fear of waking up neihbours, and at work today i left it unlocked as its in a compound and didnt wanna finish work to a flat batterey lol.

I was hoping it was just a one night glitch!! but got home tonight set alarm and again 30 mins later off it goes any ideas peeps??


also in the meanwhile can i lock the car without the alarm arming for security if so how ??
everything else seems fine no probs with radio or anything just been goin to work and back no starting issues either??

Check the cars battery is holding a full charge as if low or faulty it can trigger the alarm. To lock the car manually, lock both passenger doors, reach over the drivers seat through the offside back door & lock the drivers door, then check you have the keys in your hand (so you don't lock yourself out!) before you drop the button on the back door & close it

As philrich says for locking except you will lock all doors via the driver's when you reach through from the back door. 
A common trigger for the alarm is the bonnet switch, the bracket gets bent over when the car's being worked on. make sure the bracket is completely vertical or disconnect the switch, if all is then Ok, you've found your fault.

Well i have disconnected the bonnet sensor and so far so good alarm has been set for a while and not gone off yet early days but fingers crossed  so if it turns out to have been the bonnet sensor i need to source a new one and fit it any help with that would be appreciated i.e price, source and is it just a straight unbolt plug and play job?
Also cant help wondering if it is that why is it that it never triggered the alarm as soon as it was set it was always like 30 mins an hour before it triggered alarm??? it would of made complete sense if it was the batterey  issue as i would imagine that would take an hour or so to show a drop in current?? so i am pleased as it may be the cheaper option but still confused as to why if it was the sensor faulty why did it only fault after being set for 30 mins or more?? hope that makes some sense lol

the bonnet switch is a simple on/off switch. It's normally closed, but the bonnet when shut will open the contact. What happens is, the bonnet will just about touch the switch cos the bracket is bent, as the sun comes round the front of the car it heats the bonnet, it gets hot the bonnet expends & moves and so the bonnet will come off the switch ..... alarm sounds.
there's probably nothing wrong with the switch on your car, it just needs its bracket bending straight!

I dont know how old your car is, but the alarm(powersounder) batteries can decay with age and cause a short circuit than can set the car on fire.
If I were you I would remove the powersounder and forget about the alarm, these cars cant be stolen without the key anyway

yikes!!! lol its a 2001
 im up and down at the window now looking for smoke hehe is it easily accesable and is it poss to remove  bats and check clean replace or just rip it out i hear what yur sayin about not bein stolen just wanna try and keep it all original if i can unless its gonna cost me hundreds lol

although potentially a hazard don't panic too  much, not all power sounders fail. There's one on both my T reg Omega & V reg Astra .......... so far!

ok i disconnected bonnet catch yesterday and it didnt go off all night but today it went off again so i guess its not the bonnet catch
So whats next to try are you guys talking about the car batterey dropping current or is there another batterey somewhere i need to look at help lol

The power sounder has it's own internal batteries.
It can be found under the scuttle on the driver's side.

Ok guys thanks i have removed the power sounder and so far so good lets see if thats cured it thanks again  fingers crossed

i pressume i removed the right part lol it was a small black siren kinda sqaure shaped with one connector to it, i didnt touch the small metal horn sat next to it on the same bracket i pressume that one is ok to stay ??
