Door lock buttons rattling
« on: 17 January 2011, 13:24:14 »

Not a major issue but when cruising on motorways etc, if the stereo is not on and the wife is not prattling away :-X, I realise just how smooth and quite the car is bar one thing the plastic door lock buttons on the inside rattle slightly and annoy me a bit as all the rest of the trim does not make a sound.
Anyone got a simple solutions

Like I say a very minor issue compared with the work still outstanding on the car!

Remove the pin and wrap two turns (no more than two) of insulating tape at the bottom part.
Will stop rattling

Forgot to mention.
Pin is removed by orying outwards the red plastic on the lower part. Take a small flat screwdriver on pry the upper side of red plastic out.
It should open and you should be able to remove the pin

Me to, only passenger door though. Think its something to do with how they(you know who) ;) shut doors. My better half either slams it so hard the speaker nearly pops out or is so gentle it doesnt even catch.
Guess it depends on how annoying ive been that day
 ;D ;D ;D

Gonna do the tape trick tommorow :y

I had rattling pins on mine and previous owner had done the tape,  by the pin itself is the doorcard loose I.e you can pull it up slightly?  This is what had happened to mine took doorcard off and found that the plastic strip which holds the clips had come unstuck, stuck it back down took tape off of pin refitted doorcard and hey presto no rattle

All four of mine rattle, lock the doors and only one rattles. Tried the tape idea on my old car, found one layer of tape to be too much and it dislodged itself. Had an idea to bend the rod the button sits on so as to take out the play, but that means taking the door card off and risking the pastiche strip braking off as they sometimes do. :-/

Mine did that too. I bought some self adhesive velcro strips and just used the soft fluffy part by cutting it to the same width as the pin by about 15mm long. With the pin up ,Peel off the back, push the pin towards the glass (it only moves just enough to get the strip in) and slide the strip down into the pin slot till its flush with the top of the door panel.Pull the pin back so that the self adhesive sticks to the panel insert  and hey presto , no more rattles. I did mine about a year ago and its still perfect. hth

Hmmm, mine are at 90 degrees to the top of the door, (just been out to check.) Yours do seem to be slanted.  ::)

i tryed it once and i didnt succeded. removed all the screws, all sockets but when i tryed to pull it up it seemed like it was stuck on the upper part at the window. i don't know how to remove the side mirror triangle also; i read on the guide that by removing that the job becomes easyer. and advice is welcome
