Fault Codes
« on: 17 January 2011, 16:16:51 »

Hi,
The EML has started coming on and off since the garage replaced the spark plugs on the weekend.

The codes are
57 - Idle Air Control Voltage Low
63 - Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage High
73 - Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage Low

I understand what 73 is.
However the other 2 I have no idea.

Is it a simple process to replace the MAF (73)?
As for the other 2, any ideas what they are and how I can fix the issues?

I wouldn't change the MAF at this point until other codes cleared.  Idle valve is the ICV (make sure plugged in), Intake valve is rear multiram, again make sure plugged in...

OK.

1 question remains - where would I find the ICV and Rear Muliram?

Do you think that it is possible that these items were removed when the garage changed the spark plugs and not put back properly?
(I say this as no EML was on before the spark plug change).

Does anyone have any Pics of the ICV and Rear Multiram?

Also, do fault codes get stored, or are they generated upon ignition every time?
(Just in case the garage put the key to number 2 whilst working on the car, then changed the spark plugs. But it stored the codes, and keeps saying there is a fault even though there is not)

Does anyone know if it is safe drive with the fault:
63 - Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage High (Intake Valve/Multi-ram)?

I have looked at the Intake Valve/Multi-ram connection.
The garage, when changing the spark plugs, broke this connector.
So they now need to replace the entire valve on Friday.
(It costs over £40.00 from vauxhall for the part alone. Vauxhall stated that there are two valves that are identical. One at the front near the radiator, and one at the back (the broken one). Does anyone have one spare?)

However I need to drive the car for around 20 miles until then.
Will this harm the engine? What is this Valve for?
