Just got 2.6 elite manual, little help please.
« on: 22 January 2011, 18:35:57 »

Just changed my 2000MV6 for a 2002 elite, Have had a few omeges and always used the forum for help, but this is my fisrt post.

Wanting to swap the silver trim inserts for the "wood" ones. have done ashtray and stereo surround, are the ones on the doors plastic welled or bolted or somthing from behind?? cant get them off dont want to snap them, tried a plastic trim tool, not moving.

Also the 2.6 compaired to the 3.0 seem to lack engine braking and the revs stay up after gear changes a bit.

Is this the correct operation, or do you think there is somthing wrong with the FBW throttle body. Have checked the fault memory and there is nothing stored.

Any help greafully recieved.

Paul, Audi technician/ Vauxhall owner.

Remove door card. trim is held on with "welded" plastic rivets. 10mm drill bit on the rivets to remove splayed head. When re-fitting use 1/4 inch or similar self-tappers with the washer incorporated in the head. Self-explanatory once card is off

Top man, many thanks, I'll be taking the door trims off tomorrow then.

PS how are you supposed to get the hazard light switch out of the surround, I press the release tangs down but it doesnt pull out the back. Cut the wires on the MV (its being scraped) but dont wont to be so agressive with the elite which I hope to run for a year or 3.

With tangs depressed push OUT from the rear of the surround, it`s in there quite tight
