Thermostat Transfer pipe seals

Currently doing my thermostat and have realised the seals for the transfer pipe to thermostat housing are not with the thermostat :( as the VX dealer can't get them until tomorrow would the leaving the old seals on and using the black gasket sealant be a suitable alternative ??

given the 'fun' of getting to where you are, I would wait till tomorrow, its not a long wait and beats doing the job again

I've got a couple here but the ones from your dealer will probably get to you quicker :(

Have you got the transfer pipe out? If not maybe worth buying one as the seals come with it, its not unheard of to crack/damage the pipe when removing

Transfer pipe is still in situ and as far as I'm aware I haven't broken any thing yet ::)
VX rang  short while after posting on here to say my parts would be there at 4pm today !! :D
Great I thinks and arrange lift to stealers...... :)
On arrival I am handed 1 seal ! :-/ :-/
wheres the other one? :-/ :-/ I ask........
Oh ! they say............F***ing D***heads I think :-X :-X
Sorry we can get it for you by monday 12pm they say :'( :'(
I'm due to start work at 3.30am on Sunday Doh!! :-[ :'(
So am using the best old seal and the one new one with a good blob of grease :-/ :-/ But tried to push transfer pipe back into thermostat housing with out much luck  >:( >:( any tips welcome !
Light has gone now and me lamp packed up  :-[
So will be back at it tomorrow :-[

do the have the transfer pipe in stock? that should have two seals in the box...

Dunno if I trust them to give me the whole thing :-/ :-/ Probably find they've sawn it in half due to low stocks :-X

Right job done all back together  :)
But........... on turning the ignition on no fans running....Once engine started from cold fans are running and I'm sure they shouldn't be  :-/ :-/
Any thing I could have knocked/missed that would cause fans to be on when cold ???

Check the air con is OFF .... with air con ON one of the fans runs continually at low speed .. :)

Well I did have the AirCon on max heat to bleed the cooling system....
But the 2 main fans on the front of the radiator were running (nearly took me fingers off :o) I could feel air being pushed out from them  :-/ :-/

On a facelift I think you need to press the 'ECO' button to switch the A/C compressor off. HTH
