fuel computer accurate

got the 3.0 v6 auto on the road today, fuel was near empty, so put £25 in it at £1.28 a litre, fuel computer said i will get 60 miles, does that sound about right ?

The range is based on the consumption over the last 30 miles. If you take it steady you should see it rise as you raise the overall consumption :y

make your foot lighter and you will see it rise. i found the bc pretty accurate if i drive steady enough but when you combine urban trafic and higway it has a slight error. for example if i drive at 100km/h and i have 20 liters in the tank it shows me 400km in the range section, but if i enter an urban area it drops instantly, every km i make it drops 20 so after 10-15km in urban traffic i get 200km on the range :)

The range jobbie on mine is always way out.

My 2 litre is getting about 60 miles for £20 at about 1.26 a litre.

TBH might bin it due to the fuel use...

Try resetting all fuel/distance readings when you fill up. Leave display on average fuel consumption or range. Allow some time for the computer to recognise the new parameters and see how it goes. My 2.2dti is pretty good even when on the last dregs.

thats about 17mpg  [smiley=shocked.gif] , surely something wrong with the setup ? Or you have a very heavy right foot and do lots of short journeys around town.

I get ~26mpg from my 3.0 pottering about, rising to 33+mpg on the motorway (average).

Oh and my fuel computer is pretty good but after its been reset it does take a few miles to sort itself out. So to the OP, drive it for a few miles I bet you see that number rise significantly
