Hi, everybody, new kid on the block (I'm 67) The battery on my 1995 Omega v6 2.5 has gone flat. I now cannot get into the car, and the AA can't help. Any ideas?

If the AA cannot sort that then they are not very good.  Its usually possible to use the key in the lock, it will be very very stiff but should work.  If not, can you open the boot with the key and then feed 12V into the boot light, thus powering the remote locking.  Finally, the way suggested to me in the past and worked for me is to jack up the front of the car and put 12V onto the starter solenoid, make sure its the side that doesn't operate the starter.

By the way, at 67 you're still a young man!

Thanks Alan, well, the AA man tried your suggestion jacking up the front. It didn't work. The key will not operate any lock, including the rear hatch. When the weather clears, I'll have a go myself. Oh, thanks for the complement BTW, I'm 18 really, I just look 67!

The key will turn in the drivers door .. but it won't "appear" to unlock as the pin won't move ... keep turning the key and trying the door handle... very stiff but it will unlock

As Entwood says...presumably the cars deadlocked or it would open easily...but turn the key in drivers lock and try opening the door even though it doesnt look unlocked...once your in you car lift bonnet and charge/replace battery...job done

Thanks Entwood and Mutant Cav, short of taking a hammer to the window, there seems to be no mechanical way of opening the doors. I'll try pm today the tip that Alan gave me and see if that works. Daft I call it!

Must admit, I had a 95, same year as OP, diesel that was dead locked followed by a flat battery, the turning the key full hard right trick never worked on it, despite being the right key, was in the process of doing the 12v underneath it bit but managed to pop the bonnet from underneath instead (preface).

You could jack it up connect a live feed to the sarter motor and one to earth from a spare battery then try opening it.

As of 3pm today, problem solved. I coupled a pair of jump leads to a booster, hooked the earh onto a bolt head, then used an nsulated extension bar to probe the input on the solenoid while wifey hit the button....hey presto. Thanks for all the suggestions. You're quite right, the deadlocked doors will NOT open. They may have fixed this on later models.

they will on yours too.  and the key wil lopen the boot, it's just that due to lack of use they tend to be reluctant to do so.
