Heater only working on hottest?
« on: 10 January 2011, 22:34:31 »

'98 2 litre petrol.

Heat only comes through when on max, anything below that is cold air - any thoughts on the problem?

When you say Max - is that Max Heat or Max Airflow or Both?

Have you flushed your heater matrix as suggested??  Always a good starting point for low heat.

And what is the temp of the car?  sitting at about midpoint on the guage?

This happened to me when the outside air temp sensor had failed. New one acquired for a couple of quid off ebay and problem solved.

ah now that makes sense- the on board computer is reading huge temperatures.

Where is it located and is there anything I can do to fix it or do you have a link to where you bought yours?

I was referring to max temperature

Temp sensor lives under passenger side of front bumper, about £6-7 from VX

think i found it - dangling be the wires by the horns - is it a small black (like the size of a 50p coin) with a push in locator at one end and an electrical connector at the other end?

It was a bit corroded so we cleaned up the connectors which worked for a while but it was gone crazy again this evening - will probably just replace it.

Where does it locate into though - couldn't find a home for it...

Just experienced the same problem, heater is only blowing hot at Hi setting, the external temp. sensor not showing on dash. I have found a used sensor in the garage but.............

I cannot find the sensor on the car  :(, the only wiring in front of the passenger wheel at the horn are for the horn and fog lamps.

Have they relocated the sensor on the later model ?

FOUND IT......  on the later models it is in the middle of the bumper, below the washer bottle.

All working well.
 :) :)
