Door removal
« on: 31 January 2011, 12:12:22 »

I am attempting as a 'novice' to remove the doors off my 2.5 CDX. Is there a thread on the site showing this?
I've looked but cannot find

Front doors unscrew the electric wiring connection...back doors pull the wiring out through the rubber near the sills and unplug...then eits just a matter of knocking out the 2 pins holding the door in place where the door hinges and undoing the screw holding the door retaining hinge in place...

BE CAREFUL

The doors are a lot heavier than you might think. Either enlist some one to help  and/or support the weight on blocks or something

Pins only go one way  due to the flared collar at one end ;) Fronts probably need supporting. Rears.........unplug connector @ bottom of B post, unbolt doorstrap, close door, hit the pins out then release door handle & lift door away

Thanks for the tips guys.

The doors are off.
I had to cut the hinge adjacent to the body to enable the doors to be useable again.
The old girl is now down in the graveyard

A bit drastic!!!!  :o
Why didn't you just remove the hinge pin? They're just a push/hammer fit and cost buttons (IIRC about 50 pence each when I replaced a pair)

Struggled with the hinge pin and I didn't want to belt them too hard!  :-/

I knocked mine the wrong way a touch just to get them to move. I made a bar with a 'fork' on the end to go over the flare then hit it with a big hammer.!  ;D ;D ;D

The easiest door pins I've ever replaced had broken into 3 bit, so the old pins were knocked out with the new (no flare on them though and the pins were out of the work's stores  ::))

Thanks Andy,
When the guy who picks the doors up reads this he should have no problems reinstating them
