I've been slowly doing a few bits this week, one of which was trying to remove the police loom that was left behind in the car.

Now i've done most of it, i stumbled across the very badly installed VX car alarm.  In the picture below can anyone tell me what the little 2 pin plug socket to the far left of the box is for?  There was a short length of wire that had been pulled apart attached to it:





I also found this in the back of the little cubbyhole to the right of the steering wheel:



Any ideas?

I've also been sorting out the multi-plugs around the head unit with some un-butchered ones as supplied by RobG    But i am stuck as to what this plug does?





Everything else is accounted for....

And lastly, what does this plug do?  As the seats i've just bought off of Rob (Lincs Robert) don't have the extra socket as the seats that i got off of RobG had:

As a completely uneducated guess, I would say that connector is for an antenna used to pick up a signal from a keyfob or transponder.

Especially if a piece of wire that went nowhere was connected to it (to act as an antenna).

Like I say, though. A guess.

The extra plug for the head unit does the steering wheel controls, communication with the MID/CID/GID/TID, potentially CD changer interface and phone kit / telematics. Probably surplus to requirements if it doesn't have the factory head unit any more.

I'll have a think about that connector under the seat.

Thanks Kevin, i'd guessed that the wire from the alarm box was maybe for an l.e.d as there isn't one in the car for the alarm, also the alarm is set by double locking the car with the key remote.

I thought that's what the connector might be for, i'm still trying to suss out why the display below the time/date doesn't work - One light comes on when i start the car and thats it!

Oh really?  Any reason you know off why that is?  Curious, at least i get 'a' light

Do you know what each individual plug does that the seat connector has?

Might explain why the seats i had off of Robert were constantly HOT! ha ha!  Earlier ones didn't have the variable temp controller did they?  Just an on/off?

Yep. Facelift seats had an electronic controller which took a signal from the control on the dash, and power from the main feed to the seat. They have an 8 pin connector with 2 rows of 4 IIRC. I might be wrong. The seat connectors are a bit difficult to fathom from the diagrams IMHO.

EDIT: I was wrong. It's 8 Pins, all in line in groups of 2. Can't see what your "spare" connector was for though. :-/

Wot, both seats? The heated driver seat didn't work at all in the donor vehicle IIRC and the pass seat did work - but not that hot ...  :question

Right, the plug under the seat is for the seat belt pre-tensioner.

Although the spots on the wire would suggest otherwise.  :-/

Might be worth chasing in to the loom a bit to confirm that it is still connected as expected.
