Cat front pipe stuck
« on: 27 February 2011, 16:09:57 »

Trying toremove my cat. Undone and removed the front pipe to manifold nuts and the cat to middle section bolts and the bracket holding the cat.
Can't get the front pipe off!!
One of the bolts has a washer that seems stuck so won't allow it to come off. Very difficult to get access to it - any ideas?

there are once the support bracket bolt has been removed the exhaust should just drop down. There are 4 from memory on the manifold, all 4 removed?

Also why are you trying to remove the cat? Has the exhaust flexi after the cat failed? Make sure you just replace the flexi and not the cat itself  :y

All 4 nuts removed but one of the washers is stuck and seems to be holding the pipe. Wouldn't be too bad if i could get at it but it's the most difficult one to get to.
replacing the cat after failing emissions on the MOT. The MAF was knackered for a while and it has killed the cat!

In the daylight noticed the nuts that hold the front pipe to the manifold have an insert like a helicoil. So the ones I couldn't get off is because the insert had stayed on the stud and not come off with the nut!
