put your key in drivers lock, turn it, it might seem stiff and you think you're going to snap it but keep going. you will hear a click and it will turn. the pip wont come up but it will be unlocked, i did this.

You should be able to turn the key in the drivers door it mite only lift a little but you should be able to get in the key will turn it will just be hard and you mite think the keys gonna break.  Plus if you don't use the key noramlly you mite have to w.d40 the lock.  :y

you should be able to unlock the drivers door with the key.
you may have to force the key to the point of breaking it tho.

you can charge the battery via the boot lamp, or open the boot and go in thru the back seats.

on the transit, I connected a jump lead to the underneath of the engine (starter motor feed and engine block)
that gave enough power to unlock the doors.

worst case?
snap the key  - buy 2 new door locks, and ignition barrel.
spend two hours removing steering lock.
snap ignition switch and have to replace. (don't ask!)
total cost? 200 quid, including autoelectrician to replace switch

whereabouts in leeds are you?
I could call tomorrow evening

Turning the key does work, I did it. You only think it hasn't worked because the pip stays down.

I once also locked both keys in the boot (facelift). I had to lever out a rear quarer panel to unlock the door. This was diificult to say the least, and i didn't break it. This would obviously only work though if it wasn't deadlocked. Although even if it is you could still manage to do it and get the rear seats down this way, to then get it and pop bonnet.

can you get to underneath of engine?

if you can get to starter motor (dunno where it is on 2.2), you can hook charger up - it doesn't have to connect to battery.

I wouldn't advise a charger (Batteries have been known to explode when charging ;))... But jump leads and unlock straight away is OK :y

oops - I keep forgetting not everyone has a proper charger :.)

to eliminate any doubt - I meant connected long enough to unlock doors, in the absence of another vehicle.

Can't get to battery from underneath, think i'll get a spare cut and try that first, don't mind bending a spare etc.
The car is in Leeds 11.
