Have a bit of a noise coming from the aux belt pulley and remember seeing on the cambelt dvd,the existing pulley being repacked with grease.

Is there any recommendation of type to be used.

what ever is in the battered old tin on the shelf at the back of your garage.  but not copperslip (Chris will get upset if you do )

Suspected it was just standard high temp grease so will get my buttering knife out on Monday and see if I can shut it up a bit.

Just be careful as you prise the dust seal out, they're easily distorted.

Isn,t it just ..undo the large nut and lift of the metal washer (which I assume is the dust cover).Refill with grease and then do the same to the other side..being acerfull to keep the open casing flat to stop all the ball bearings falling out.

The big washer isn't the dust seal. The pulley has a standard bearing set into the middle of it, the dust seal is the (generally) black plastic/rubber bit that sits between the inner & outer parts of the bearing. 
You can do what you want to the bearing, but the balls won't fall out.

Never opened one up so will be intersting to see what you mean...sure it will all become clear.

I expect to find an almost empty of grease bearing set .

If you open up a brand new bearing you'd be surprised how little grease there is in them. You don't need to completely fill  it.
