2.5v6 cd estate auto petrol

started to run rough today, thought was exhaust, sounded like it blowing, rough to pick up speed, seems to smell of petrol a bit, did paper clip test, with engine running shows fault code 73. mass air flow sensor i believe. could it be anything else.

have just fitted a scrap yard air flow sensor, now getting codes 73 and 74, guess that one is broken. does it sound like if i fit a new one the problem will be solved. please advise thanks

Run it with MAF disconnected see if there`s any difference

seemed to effect tick over a bit but did not make any difference really
