MV6 Suspension
« on: 26 February 2011, 19:47:23 »

Can anyone tell me if MV6 suspension will cope with the weight of a wheesel 6 cylinder lump.

I have a facelift diesel that does ok but i'd like to stiffen it up a bit and i'm breaking an MV6 so I thought I would fit the front and rear suspension.

TIA

Dont see why not.

Plod used MV6 suspension with two fat fuggers inside and a real shed load of kit in the boot and still managed to hustle them along on both straight and twisties and avoiding speed hump damage....  :)

I wouldn't. Surely the TD lump is considerably heavier than the v engine?

If you want to persue it Turk had firmer springs made for his TD I believe.  :-/

I'm not that bothered but just thought while I had the bits sat there I might as well swap them over ;)

Nope, you need an Omega Special not an MV6 for a LSD ;)

all three of my ex-plod cars had harder/longer springs fitted, and not MV6 springs.

you could try it as an experiment. Failing that, I'm after a set of MV6 springs, so would gladly take them off your hands.

LSD only ever fitted to police cars, not MV6. and even then, I'd estimate maybe only 20% of police cars were so fitted.

bringing up an old thread i know, but this is an interesting point....

as seen here for estate:
http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/summary.aspx?model=984&page=2

And here for saloon:
http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/summary.aspx?model=985&page=2

there is a big variation in stated weights for diff spec levels and engines, but from what i can see, overall, the TD is no heavier and if anything, in some cars is lighter than the V6.

You are however correct in saying that it hangs a bit further forward, so this may affect the weight distribution.

Would be interested in actual engine block weights though.

AND also, WOW at the difference in my TD select manual estate, compared with similar Elite!
250-300kgs lighter because of all the goodies i'm missing. Kinda makes me feel better for it lol
