W.I.M
« on: 04 March 2011, 09:39:10 »

If I go to a recommended wim,s service center to have wheels aligned,do I need to book it through the WIM,s website ?   or can I just turn up at the local center and they will have all the settings on their machine.

Any body who has used an independant ,perhaps they could advise me.

Thanks

depends on the independant.

afaik, they dont have the WIM database...you book through WIM and at that point WIM supply the specific values for your car.  If they have done an omega for WIM, they may know them, otherwise they wont.

So if I book online through WIMs website they will send over the details to independant.?

Perhaps I will email WIM,s and ask them to supply details, then I can go and pay for the work at independant.

Personally, and from bitter experience, I'd only entrust the work to the people at Chesham - end of ;)

not really fair on wim, to give, free of charge their intellectual property.
(that said they are normally very helpful, but I think its very cheeky given you seem to just be trying to save a few quid)

I am not trying to " buck the system",its just I don,t know the system. No intention trying to just get their intellectual details, just wanted to ensure the garage I went to had the correct details for the car.

Chesham is a fair way to go,if you can get the same level of measurments(albeit perhaps not the same level of experience)from somewhere 10 miles away with fuel costs where they now are.

I had perhaps miss understood how the service worked so i will book on line through WIMs website but request the work done at local garage .

with you now.....read like you had found the local 'wim franchise' and wanted them to do the work cheaper than through wim direct....

In that case just browse over to wim, buy your geometry online, and they give you a map to select your most local centre as shown here

http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/tyre-fitting-centres.php

if access to any of those sites is a problem , Im sure Tony would help you out privately.

Just gone through WIM,s website and booked alignment, which then asked me which independant garage I wanted to use...so looks like I have got it sorted now.

At no time was I ever trying to get a cheap job from elsewhere using somebody elses hard work...not my style at all.

Will now await for reply to my request to book.

Thanks for info though.

No worries, we got there in the end, Always found Tony very good to deal with personally both at Chesham, and through his local franchise.

I went through the WIM online ordering, but unsure if you pay online and then get a booking arranged or you just make a booking and then pay when you turn up at local independant.

Was a bit concerned that it all seemed to be linked to payment at Chesham..do they deal with it all and then book...seems a bit long winded if you are going to a different place.

May just ring WIM next week and take a trip up there as still had no info sent back to me..much prefer paying cash when I go to get it done .

Perhaps the discount might cover the fuel ??? so atleast I know the job will be done correctly.

Will get on the phone on Monday and get booked in .

Whats the deal at Chesham ?

I'll be off to Chesham soon....
How does the OOF discount work?
Do they need something to look at or verify?
