does any-body have any advise for me reguarding changing my cambelt, have priced up the parts needed, belt kit, water pump??? may-be, plus new mutli groove belt, £217, spoke to my local Vauxhall at Bridgwater they want £375  :-/ for fitting belt kit, local independent garage wants £508 fitted  wow are this prices the norm or are they taking the mick

Conti tech, gates, skf, are all oe suppliers, check thier prices from a factors. Buypartsby for instance. Cheaper than dealers.

Diy is cheapest, but you'll need a cam belt locking/setting kit to change it accurately, its not a case of just changing the parts, its got go be set correctly. Hence the prices, £375 not too bad, although one of the guys on here will be cheaper i guess.

Dvd on the job in club shop, if your even remotely mechanicaly minded....?

one or two mechanics on the forum will do this for you cheaper than you have been quoted, Daz did mine (2.6 though) la st week, I travelled 200 miles there to get it done and still saved money... can throughly recommend Daz to do the job.....

I thought the 3.2 & 2.6 cambelts and tensioners were the same (assuming similar engine number/age)

I'm doing my 3.2 cambelt tomorrow.

If you do it - you'll need a locking kit.

Borrow mine if you want.

If you're not confident in doing it, contact one of the mobile mechanics on here...

a very very very bad idea on a V6.. you NEED the locking and timing kit.

It is possible to change the belt kit without a locking kit.

It is NOT possible to do it accurately though, is full of potential disasters and will take an awfull lot longer than with the correct cam and crank locks.

Either way tip ex is no good to anyone.
