Part No. for rear Springs ?
« on: 09 March 2011, 17:17:04 »

Hi guys,
Am trying to find out the VX part number for Omega facelift rear springs.

I and another forum member think we have early facelift Elites that were produced with a LSC  from the factory

Am presuming that Elite & MV6 would have different springs as the MV6 sits lower than a std Elite. The MV6 has LSC (Lowered sports chassis).

I have an invoice from my cars service history saying rear springs were changed in Aug 2007 with part number 90295666

the bottom line is have Elite or LSC springs been fitted as the car seems to sit a bit high at the rear ? :o :o :o

TIA  if anyone can help        Regards, Big Al :y :y

Big Al, If you pm me your Vin number I can have a look at the EPC and see what part number it gives. Without this number I would really just be guessing.

hi guys thanks for the replies.

The issue here is that there is a possibility that a few cars came out of germany for the UK market that were LSC (lowered sports chassis) but badged Elite. I'm told that the DVLA insisted that were named as MV6 on the V5 for insurance purposes .( ie. motorsport model)

also had a bit of a problem insuring it as my existing insurance company would only insure it at a 300% premium increase, stating that the car is a " Hybrid motorsport model" :o :o :o

i am wondering as the car sits slightly high at the back were Std springs replaced instead of LSC springs when the replacement springs work was carried ou by VX at norwicht in 2007

Is there anyway of finding out which springs were fitted from the factory?

Al,

This is an interesting one the part number above 90295666 does correctly match a spring for an Elite model with self levelling shocks. However if I turn on the VIN filter with the VIN number you have sent me I am offerd two different alternatives as follows:

9193196 Spring Assy Sport (not used with removable towing attacment)

9193197 Spring Assy Sport (used with removable towing attacment)

So maybe you were correct after all, perhaps someone with more knowledge can assist.    :-/

looks like sport springs were fitted at the factory then & therefore it would be a LSC (Lowered Sport Chassis) ;D ;D

Is it worth checking the number/letters on the front springs, just to be sure they match?

There is usually two didgits to id them printed on, along with a colour code. I.d.ing them with that info... Well... The letters equate to the springs available on trade club web site, not sure if epc works that way though?

I am almost 100% sure any springs will work with sl shocks, so no issue there.... Imo. Some plod cars with sl run differant springs again i believe.

Plus whats the ride hight to wheel arch? From memory Elite is 675mm all round floor to wheel arch, lsc is 15 mill lower than that.

Hth
Cretainly would fit lsc over sl springs any day where poss, but thats just me.  :y

Could be self leveling fault. Play with the level arm as guide in maintanance. See if it settles too a lower hight when the arm is lowered so its riding on the springs not the shocks. Also check the car goes up AND down in relation the arm movement.

..... Faaaaaairly sure the ride hight should be the same front and rear for estate and saloon.  :-/

And check for these letters in the  rear springs themselves, btw.  :y

The difference in ride height could also be due to the fact that the front and rear springs are different specs. Sport on the front and standard on the rear. As I said in my pm I would get a dealer to check the part numbers on the live system for availability or any special instructions etc. Maybe the dealer fitted the standard springs because the originals were special order or not available etc etc. I'm sure that a main dealer service department with highly skilled technicians would never ever make a mistake and fit the wrong part as everyone on this site knows that would simply be completely impossible you'd be more likely to see a Unicorn in the High Street.    ;)
