Pissed off now!!!
« on: 16 March 2011, 12:44:01 »

As before....Getting codes 0300 .....and 0305 and 0306.....with the pedal trick......2.6 running rough especially at very low revs. EML light will not go out.
Banged in a new set of plugs. No difference whatsoever... :-/ Still getting the same codes.

I've just fitted a brand new Bosch coil pack to the 1..3..5 bank (£61.50 inc postage)Everything is still exactly the same. Car running rough EML light on and the same codes....

Any ideas please?.... :'( :'( :'(

I know Rob. I'm just trying to sort out the problems on the 135 bank for now. I was hoping new plugs and a new coil pack would sort It out .  I was then  going to look into the problem on the 246 bank... :-/

but you still have 0306, a mis-fire on the other bank of cylinders. I think you'll have to bite the bullet & buy a coil pack for the other side too.  ;)

That was to be my intention Andy. But bearing in mind a new coil pack has not solved the problem on the 135 bank........ I'm not convinced I want to go down that route at present. The old saying "throwing good money after bad" comes to mind... :-/ :-/ :-/

this is about your 6th thread on this now...lets just keep it all to this one and get some continuity going.....

Is the 246 bank as rusty as your 135 photo was?
are your camcover gaskets leaking?

Before throwing money at coil packs, have you done the basics - compression test?

some of your prev posts show the 246 bank in a not very good state - thats gonna want replacing sooner rather than later anyway judging by the rust.

one other (unrelated) question - are you levering the coil packs out....or using (plenum) bolts down the bolt holes to lift em out as per the maint guide?  may make your life easier  :y

Mr Jimbob......135 did  have  oil in the plug holes.( mainly in plug hole 5) I removed this and it has not come back since . This is why I have yet to get round to sorting the cam cover gaskets on this bank. "

246 coil pack is as bad as the 135 pack......rusty with a few bulges and splits in the plastic casing..... :'(

Nope James. I do not have a compression tester. The results might be interesting.... ;D :y

right, so you have had 2 dodgy coil packs

you now have 1 good (so should have no 301, 303, 305) codes
and 1 old (leaving you open to 302, 304, 306 codes)  if it is faulty.

or a wiring fault elsewhere

or something unrelated.

do you have "My Naff Code Reader" or similar to clear codes / get live data?

does it run any better if you disconnect the MAF?

I lift them out with two bolts of the correct size...(As Chrisgixer suggests) I I do not try to lever a screwdriver under the rubbers..... :y

No "My Naff Code Reader" (Whatever that is?)

MAF?.......Not familiar with this......but I'm learning....... ;)

Also ......I have tried three different plugs in cylinder five just to make sure that it is nothing as simple as a faulty plug..... :y

I have code 0300 as well ......is that relevant?

I'm slightly surprised that Plug 5 is bone dry when I take it out. I would expect it to be wet (if it's not sparking).

Car runs roughest  between 500rpm and 1500  rpm (About 4 cylinders?) it smoothes out after  that and will pull to the 6700 red line but without any real vigour.... :-?...Hmmmm
