Cars just died on me on the way to work. Had a message on the display saying something like "Automatic Gearbox". Rolled to a halt tried to restart and it's not having it. A quick paper clip test revealed codes 12 and 19.
Is it likely to be the crank sensor or is that just a red herring???

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just a quick update.
The car started after sitting for an hour or so. Drove it most of the way home then it died again. Towed it the last mile or so and it started long enough to get it onto the drive. Seems like It's working until the engine warms up then dies again. Will try to order a new sensor in the morning.
Can anyone explain the message about the auto box. Did it put itself into coast mode when the engine died?

Can't explain the message BUT mine said exactly the same thing..twas the sensor in my case also.

Classic crank sensor symptoms, and often causes erroneous codes,  sometimes without a cs code at all. it's the basis for most of the engine managements actions so can upset all sorts of stuff when it doesn't know the position of the crank and hence the engine timing. Basically, it's fuddled.
