eml light on and other problems
« on: 05 April 2011, 23:38:54 »

when starting the car first thing the eml light comes on and only goes out when i rev the car to 3000rpm any ideas what this could be?
also the car revs eraticly hunting untill being driven for 5 or so mins and then sorts itself out, im thinking air leak somewhere but why does it stop after a few mins? this has only started when changing the maff, the eml light was there well before the hunting issues.
still havent gotten round to removing the power sounder yet but has to be done as alarm has a mind of its own and when i remove keys it gives 4 beeps which is pretty annoying, i have changed the battery to a 90 amp but am wondering if the alternator is shot as i noticed when i put the heater on the revs started to play up again.
the car is a 51 2.2dti which is driving me mad!

I would image p1634/5 general glow plug error. the eml would stay on untill the glow plugs have stopped working, as they stay on after the glow plug light has gone out.

thanks for the reply charlie,
and that code does make sense as unfortunatly the car has had a snapped glow plug with an easy out snapped on top of that for the past year but it hasnt really given me any hastle starting wise.
any ideas on the hunting?
