Started doing the termostet today then had to stop as I needed the bridge section to the hose which they did not have in so job will be finished in the morning. so started checking a few things as it's been a nice day and looking at the new thermostat it has 92deg - 107deg on it with a part No. of 90502201 is this correct for a 03 3.2 as the number on the body of the housing's are differant. Few other job done at the same time

1. Aux belt pulley fitted
2. Coil pack change 2,4,6 only
3. New power sounder fitted
4. Door check straps fitted with new spacers
5. New breather hose fitted due to split in the large rear one.

Your t/s number is correct for 3.2
Did it come with new seal ring 24447061  mine didn't, I had to get separately.

You may also find you have to get tranfer pipe "O" ring seals separate
2 off  9129999

Also, check the thickness of the new thermostat housing flange is same as original. If thinner, then make sure you use spacer washers  (or a 10mm nut) to make up thickness, or shorten the bolts by at least 6mm.

Also make sure to remove any oil or water in the thermostat fixing hole in the cylinder block that is a blind tapped hole.

A smear of silicone grease is good on the inside of the transfer pipe and the "O" ring seals to help fitting the pipe, also for holding the thermostat housing seal in place while you are fitting it.

I also found it was easier to refit the B**tard bolt holding the transfer pipe in place by changing it to a similar size but hex headed bolt. It seemed easier to get the hex socket on the bolt than the torx socket when it wasn't quite square with the head and you are having to do the job by feel, I even found it easier with an offset ring spanner.

I checked when i got the thermostat and had to get the 3 'o' seals as well but have now had to stop until i get the transfer pipe in the morning but it gave me time to clean everything ready to refit, but thanks for the tip about checking the size of the flange and the water in the holes, I will check in the morning

Big R was correct, the flange on the new part was 10m/m thinner as the old one has a webb that the bolt passes though. Had to cut same amont off old bolt as the rear hole of the two is blind and at a depth of 20m/m. I now know why they call it the B/bolt I have the cuts to go with it. New tranfer pipe came with seals. Car is now running and on the road again.

Blimey Joff, you must be getting very well practiced at taking the plenum off by now!!

I've just remembered that you asked me for that picture of my GPS connection (memory like a sieve!!), do you still need it?

yep still working on that one Twiglet, but will get the sat nav working one day, and i am looking for a CID screen aswell, I think TB said something like rocking horse. Just missed one on the bay yesterday but the price was high. The plenum has been off a few times now had to put a new top hat seal on yesterday aswell, (note to self must get a few of them in) took her over to Didcot last night when i went to work and she went well, have just done the rear discs on the son-in-laws car this afternoon(vectra c) now i just want a rest before starting work again in the morning with the first of four 12 hour shifts. Pics when you can thanks.
