Still getting codes, P0743,P0753 and P1700. Should I take the chance and put her into the specialist and I know for a fact I will get ripped off. As they wanted £250 to replace solonoid and I did It for half the price. As I said it did not clear codes. or should I try and pick up a refurbished auto box and try and fit it myself but then again might be electrical and code will still not clear. Any advice appreciated.

suggests to me , selector switch on gearbox, when u put it on drive does it go into limp mode , ie sticks in 3rd gear (like normally putting in drive and trying to pull off with snow button on ? )

What device are you using to read these codes?

kind of .......  :-/
The original gear box tell tale on my car used to be fine when the main lights were OFF, but as soon as I turned them on, all the selector tell tale leds lit. A 'new' tell tale fixed it.

That would be another unrelated fault on this box... ...a shade too coincidental, even for me

Not much left in the bottle, so excuse me if this is nonsense, but haven't I read on here that dodgy cam sensor can throw autobox codes on 2.2s?  Can't remember whether it's been known to fail without showing its own fault code.

Has the cam sensor ever been changed? (If so, with genuine Vx part?).

If not, it may be worth borrowing a known good one from a local 2.2-er to see what happens.  :-/

I would change the selector switch first, its a damm sight cheaper than an auto box then if that still does not sort the problem then source a decent second hand box from one of the breakers on here and go from there.
