Gear selector / key release issue
« on: 18 April 2011, 12:22:54 »

Just started having a minor issue getting the key out the ignition...

Sometimes the lever under the gear selector sticks in the up position, then the car holds onto the key, easy fixed by pulling the lever down.

Can't recall anyone else having this before :-/

Any ideas to loosen it off or whats causing the issue?

Cheers

That reminds me.. I had this problem once.

It wouldn't let me have my key back at a rather inconvenient time and I ended up removing the cowling around the steering column and pulling the connector on the little solenoid at the bottom of the lock barrel mechanism.

Never did fix it properly. ::)

TBH, I found it a pain not being able to park the car in "N" when working on it, so I haven't bothered.
