Aux belt
« on: 20 April 2011, 21:36:05 »

Bought a new aux belt yesterday from the dealer, marked 93181720 and manufactured by Gates.  Got the old belt off OK but couldn't get the new belt on!  I reckon with a 2nd pair of hands I could probably just about manage it but surely it shouldn't be that difficult?  Might it damage the bearings if it is too tight?

Which pulley did you fit last? The last time I fitted a new GM belt I'd to fit it to the smooth water pump pulley last, it just wouldn't clear the outer lip of the other pulleys otherwise.

The above is just the right way, and I think the only way to get it on.

Great tip, used the water pump as last pulley and managed to squeeze on new belt
