Just been given a V6 sri vectra that has done 77,000 miles but has a misfire. Not yet had time to look at it but wonder if anyone may have any ideas as to what it may be? I don't intend to spend too much on it and will scrap or break it if it ain't a cheap fix. So any ideas, has any one had a similar problem?

normal- plugs,leads, dis pack..

check the sparkplug wells for oil. if there is oil in there then the cam cover gaskets are leaking because the breathers are blocked.this affects the plugs,then the plug leads,then the dis unit(coil pack).this is the most common cause of misfiring on the v6 engine.if this is the problem it isnt that difficult or expensive to fix.there are maintenance guides on the forum which will be of great help if you want to diy.

vectras tend not to leak from cam covers.


last misfire on a v6 veccy, I just changed plugs, leads, and dis. Couldn't be arsed to faff about.  No codes on paperclip test, so likely ht.

Yep just done the cam cover gaskets on my miggy   ust no had time to look at the veccy yet, it was dark when i got it bck so will take a good look tommorow. Thanks all the same

yes they do, its just you will need to fill the oil up with a long flexi necked funnel

sort of. oil filler in wrong place.  Also, because they dont leak, the pressure built up when breathers blocked (main reason Omega ones fail) blows out more vital seals

My brother in law has a 99 V6 Manual CDX Vectra Estate with about 50,000 miles and full leather thats been sat on his drive for about 3 years because it failed it MOT on discs and pads and he wont part with it. Its just sitting there covered in bird kack and tree sap

What year is it - like omegas they went DBW 2002 ish.....rulling a few thing in or out... Also cam covers will be fine

Year 1998, Cam covers will go on miggy if i dont sort veccy
