my car has the standard factory alarm
it triggers about an hour after parking
any ideas engine cooling down perhaps

Sounds like bonnet switch bracket is bent. Either bend it up or disconnect, see if it still happens. If it still persists, possible dying powersounder batteries

Had the same problem with my old estate. Turned out to be the pane-break on one of the rear side windows. Pop of the little black caps and use a thin filament of wire to short out the grid stuck to the glass. Do them one at a time to see which one is dodgy. Just a thought.. ::)
