MV6 - 2000 on w plate - cruise control
« on: 08 May 2011, 10:30:38 »

First stupid question - how can I tell if my car a face lift / mini-facelift ect

main reason I want to know is I want to fit a cruise control
to my mv6 and would like to know if it is the easy plug-and-play type of do I need the  actuator motor, mounting box, the control cable and the metal carrier end on the cable

I have seen all the helpful how-to section but just want to check which model I have.

thanks

Your car will be non dbw so you will need the motor etc.

Cruise is only 'plug and play' (may still need activating) on the 2.2 diesel and the 2.6/3.2 petrols. I'm not sure about the 2.5 diesel...

This is a mini facelift vehicle...

And this is a facelift.

Main external differences are the bonnet and grill are in one piece on the facelift, whereas the mini facelift has seperate grill and bonnet, also the rubbing strips are different.

seems like mine is a facelift - thanks for that

I am just confused because in the
maintance guides there are 2 how to for cruise

1 - Fitting Cruise (Facelift Only)

2 - Fitting cruise to a pre facelift.

It sounds like I have to follow the pre-facelift

is this right?

I see your confusion!! I think this is to do with engines and facelift!

2000 was the changeover year, so from then on cars had the facelift engines (2.6 petrol and 3.2 petrol) however, like my two, they're both facelift but have the older 3.0 engines (2.5 and 3.0).

Sometimes when people refer to facelift they also mean the 2.6 and 3.2 petrol engines, but as you know, a facelift doesn't always have them. :y

The new engines came in a year after the facelift model was introduced.
