Rear diff oil change
« on: 13 May 2011, 01:13:20 »

Hi all,
I have just done my rear diff pinion seal and topped the oil up by the plug at the side i pumped it in out of the bottle.  My question is should i have had only one side of the car up and done it that way only i did it while it was still on both ramps ??? and just pumped it in till it started to come out of the hole and then just popped the plug back in and did it up. :-/ :-/   Any advice please peeps.

Needs to be filled with the car level.
Otherwise you'll overfill the diff, and that newly fitted seal will start leaking again VERY soon. >:(

Thanks mate :y. I read in the maint section that you jack up one side but i'm gonna be checking it again in few days and see if its leaking again or not. If its not then i'm hoping its jobs a good'en then as i made sure i did not go mad and as soon as it started to leak out of the plug i stopped.  Am i right in thinking all it does is stop oil from leaking out and crap from getting in???
