servotronic relay
« on: 08 May 2011, 15:56:18 »

Hi all,

Trying to locate the relay for the power steering on my f/l. Looked in the panel under the steering column but can't see it. Any idea what position number/sign it is please?

I'm going to swop the relays over onto my mini facelift to see if that is why my steering is heavy at low revs.

TIA  :y

hmmm in a facelift it should be under the steering coloumn behind the fusebox  :-?
the only info i can give you is that they are hidden quite high, quite difficult to see but it is red  :y
looking at your profile you say you have a 99 f/l so im wondering whether the relay is behind glovebox as it is in mfl  :-/ :-/

Haha, was looking in the wrong place then..  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
Will go & have another look!

I'm taking it off my facelift to try on the mini facelift to check if that is the fault before changing the steering pump.
I was advised that yesterday on here, so learning as I go!

Cheers for that.  :y

Remove passenger kick panel look up and it`s the red one.

I might be wrong, but facelift 2.0, 2.5 & 3.0`s are behind pass. kickpanel. The breaker (F/L "Y" reg 3.0ltr was behind kickpanel `cause I got it in the shed ;D ;D ;D ......around the £70 mark from VX IIRC

I must be blind today. Just been out again to the f/l, taken the kick panel down and looked up behind the fusebox.
All I can see is a plastic panel approx 1" sq running from across the back of the fusebox with a bunch of wires running above it. Put my hand up and had a poke about but can't see or feel anything??

Someone shoot me and put me outa my misery!  :'(

That might be why then. Was told it was drivers side kick panel, not passenger side!

Well I think I've hit the jackpot this time. Found 2 large blocks, 1 grey, 1 red!

Next question, do they just pull out or is there clips holding them? Just tried to get the red one out, but its bloody cramped and awkward to get at!

Pull out, bloody stiff. You can try using a small bladed screwdriver to gently lever around the base
