Cut out

Hi guys,

Just went to the shops and on the way back the car cut out. It started but was really groggy and cut put again. Tried again and gave it a bit of welly and it fired to life. I'm going to do the peddle trick to get the codes of it. Any thoughts?

Right did the paper clip (after I realized that the peddle trick isn't going to work, fail) It came up (after the starting sequence) with 3 sets of 9. Do you add them up? in which case its 27, high voltage on injector valve 3? Help

could be code 19 which is crank sensor  ;)

steve the first flashes are 12 which is start of sequence without engine running then you get 19 three times followed by 12 again end of sequence, code 19 is crank sensor which fits in with your symptoms, when replacing only use genuine vx and check what connector/plug you have because 3 were fitted to the 2.5  :y

And when fitting it, route the wiring according to the guide. Otherwise the heat from the exhaust manifolds will fry the new one as well. ;)

no there is no initiation  ;) well not yet  :-/
andyc is the person you want to pm or search his name and his telephone number is there  :y
but as i said you will have to know what plug you have on the cranksensor, that is situated at the rear right /passenger side of plenum it is a 3 pin connector and is near the big multiplug in the same place, you will need to know whether it is a oblong connector, an oblong connector with rounded corners or an oblong connector with recessed pins, have this info before getting in touch with andyc

oh another way is to get under car and try and read the part number on the sensor itself, a feat in itself due to the fact that it is nigh on impossible to remove the wiring from where it is routed  :o

according to the dealers and andyc there were 3 different plugs fitted to the 1999 2.5l  ;)
