   My alarm has started to go off as I drive along. Mostly, I can turn it off by switching off and back on again, although this can get a bit exciting!
   I wondered if it might be caused by dirty battery connections creating enough resistance to trigger it, so I cleaned both terminals and all extra connections thoroughly this morning. I drove approx 30 miles with no problem, but on the way home, it went off twice ( still an improvement on before).
    The solenoid in the driver's door central locking has got tired, so I often lock remotely, then lock that door with the key. Could this have something to do with it? Help!!

Electronic siren noise, or horn noise?

If former, I'd say your power sounder will soon (potentially) try to set fire to the car

It's just the horn, I think. Thanks for mentioning fire - very encouraging!!

It's not the horn. It's the siren, and it's going off every 2 or 3 miles. Could it be caused by my lazy driver's door solenoid?

I've got the same problem. My siren keeps going off, when parked and when driving. Only seems to do it when it's been raining. It is getting most annoying. Anyone help ??

Disconnect the 'power sounder' from under the driver's side of the scuttle under the windscreen. Have a look through the guides, you might get your hand in with the wipers in place, but obviously you'll give yourself more room with them removed.

It’s such a sin to leave it in -
So if in doubt whip it out 

(because it is supposedly a fire hazard with dying batteries)

BUT - technically, the insurance premium you are paying for is for a car with a full factory alarm.  So you may prefer to replace the power sounder batteries (dead cheap) and put the blasted thing back in again:

Thanks guys. Have disconnected it, and all is peace again! Hadn't thought of the insurance angle though. Might have to replace the batteries and reconnect it.......

Thanks to all.  It won't be a problem no more. Took about 20 mins, but worth the effort. The pic's and instructions were most helpfull.

By the way, mounted to the same bracket as the power sounder was what looked like a horn. Is that what it is?

Yep, alarm horn. Powersounder is a back up if your main car battery get`s tampered with
